Source of headphone wire oil leak?

I would seriously consider getting a new set. First the chemical may not be harmless. Back that far the regulations on use of chemicals were far more lax. Second the set may depend on this to work correctly, and without t may sort your machine outputs and do damage. Unlikely but a risk just the same. For the cost of a headset now change it.
